Character sketch

Roughs! I have boxes full of 'em. I think that the point of keeping them is to have the chance to share them. Like this one.
It was a character study for a Fruit drink product. The character had to be spunky, dynamic, good-looking...all those traits that merchandising people think kids relate to the most.
Me? I just let the character come alive. I draw and wonder what would 'he' do in certain situations. If I don't do that then the character lacks life and credibility.

On That Full Moon Night

This is actually quite an oldie of mine. One of my earliest experiments in combining pencil drawing and digital coloring. The client ended up not needing the final artwork but I still like it today.

Storyboard

Some T.V. ads need to make you think, laugh, feel happy, feel concerned...they have to make you react in the right way. It is only when you read the script against actual images and hear the music of it's message in your head that you actually feel the potential (or lack thereof) behind an idea.

Storyboards. Powerful tool indeed.

Ultimate Y The Last Man

*PARODY*
Finally the Wait is over.
The same creative team that brought you the awesomeness that was Ultimates 3 goes at it again with this summer’s most anticipated title of all: Ultimate Y the Last Man.
Yes, Yorick Brown and his gang are back following the evens of the original series in an action-packed way!!
“this time we will not waste time in character developing since that was somewhat well-handled by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra on the first series, which leaves us open to explore the fun, action packed world around Yorick and his friends”- Said an over –enthusiastic Jeph Loeb.
Joe Mad! showed us a sample of the upcoming mega-tetrafold cover depicting the heroes side and we just had to ask what can we expect this time around and Loeb added:
“Yorick, having evolved over the years into a full level-12 Magician, uses his Ultimate powers to enact vengeance upon the newly formed group the Granddaughters of the Amazons and their plans of launching a nuclear missile that would shoot every living being on the foot when detonated so you know that the Y-man is gonna need all the help that he can get.”
That’s what Friends are 4
The elder of the Dr. Menn and her army of clones will aid the quest with her mixture of sexy –brains and brown.
Ampersand has now evolved into a talking wild mountain sasquatch that can take good care of himself and his master, which makes the now seasoned aussie spy Rose very happy and allows her to focus more on her battle skills.
One of Rose’s lines that I am more proud of is “Listen bi8*ch, I’m hea’ tha drink Foster’s and kick some serious ass, end ah’ totally ran out of beeah!” –That’s going to be a classic, said Loeb.
While Agent 355 new look [and even baddererest attitude]has something to do with the events of the first series.”It all happened in France, you know… and now we’ll have the chance to know what the Culper Ring is all about. You’ll just have to read it.”

Expect lot’s of surprises, shocking sibling romance, unthinkable come-backs and most of all action, action and more action and less brainy blah-blah as this is just what the fans of “Y The Last Man” are in dire need to experience.
“This also is a good jump-in point for new readers and fantasy fans alike. You will not be disappointed!…this time!...Again!...” –said Loeb while trying to smile.
‘Ultimate Y the Last Man’ is sure to be this summer mega-hit. Don’t miss it!

Dugan

Just sketching up in an old sketchpad I found. The old, news-paper like paper will give me the chance to make some rather cool sketches. You'll see.

Funnyman Stinky.

Here, we needed for an animated character to be on a live-action T.V. ad and since the character's voice would be heard as a voice-over remembering his performance on an Open Mic Nite show, we needed some key gestures (here he seems to be telling a joke about reckless driving) to be intertwined with 'normal' gestures but since the animation crew is abroad now I can only wait for the final results.
Here's hoping!

EXPIATORIUM

This is a full-page illustration I did for LENGUA Magazine.
It was about the not-so-funny origin of the term "scapegoat" or as it is used in the spanish language "Chivo Expiatorio".

Here I'm going to share what I wrote when I posted this image on a popular art forum because I thought it could offend someone:

I do not mean to disrespect anyone's religious beliefs or choices.
This image came about as we were at the office discussing the legal and ethical entanglements suffered by an italian family who had a comatose loved one hooked to a machine for 17 years without having the option of giving her that deserved right to rest in peace. [link]
And then I thought how much would you support a "cause" were you the victim of it? This image does not represent my wishes to the Vatican authorities. In fact it wasn't even meant to be shared at all... but it is an invitation to think.

Turns out this is one of my most-viewed pics over there.
